Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some commonly asked questions about an issue with a copier or either about our scope of business.  Feel free to browse the FAQ’s before placing a call.  You may find the answer you are needing before requesting for service saving your business time and productivity.

Common Q&A's to Prevent a Service Call

If you see lines on the copies when using the document feeder but there is no line when printing or making a copy on the glass, chances are, the small, slender glass just to the left of the larger glass below the document feeder, needs to be cleaned.  Use any glass cleaner or alcohol to remove any buildup that may have occurred on the glass.  97% of the time, this will correct the line issue.

Confirm the paper size on the display of the copier, matches in the paper size that is actually in the tray.  If the paper size or paper orientation does not match, the copier will jam with every copy or print.

Also, confirm there are no foreign objects or debris in the paper path causing the jams.  Anything in the paper path, may cause the paper to stop during the print or copy cycle causing a jam.

All dark pages when making copies are typically due to copying prohibited documents such as a driver’s license, passport, checks, birth certificate, etc.  These documents are protected with a watermark or seal and once the machine recognizes the watermark or seal, the copier will disable the copy job by passing out an all black page with no image.

If the copier is making a spot or mark on every copy at the same place, every time on all copies, there may be a spot or marks on the glass.

Lastly, check the original.  There may be a mark or spot on the original document that is being copied.

Deciding if the copier in question is worth the cost of repairs will depend on a few key factors.  Here is a list of a few questions that my help determine the best option:

Is the copier at least 15 years old?

If your copier is at least 15 years old or older, it may be time to retire your copier and move on to another equipment and take advantage of the newer features and options of an upgrade.  The upgraded machine does not necessarily need to be brand new but at least it is newer.  Generally, this question will be better answered after a general service so we can determine the cost-benefit for you.

Does the copier have close to 1 million copies/prints total?

Typically, once a copier machine reaches a total print cycle of close to one million total impressions, that is when more serious problems start to occur and more wear-and-tear starts to prevail.  We recommend at that point to repair the machine with basic service and consider upgrading soon.

Are you unsure of the best course of action?

Not a problem.  Feel free to give us a call at any time at 770-299-8500 or email us at info@theaosllc.com.

The cost of repairs will depend upon the problem.  Most copier service can be taken care of with labor.  Our labor for service is $150 for B&W and $175 for color plus any parts if parts are needed.  Both labor rates are flat rates for the current time.
